Job Description

Position : Data Clerk

Duty Station : Mzimba South District Hospital

Main purpose of the job

The Data Entry Clerk works to directly support M&E activities at facility level in support of care and treatment.
The Clerk will work towards strengthening the facility’s ability to generate, utilize and disseminate timely, complete and accurate data. The Data Entry Clerk will be seconded to a high-volume site as determined by DHA and/or CDC. She/he is supervised by the M&E Officer.

Key Responsibilities

•Register patients and record details in the registers as assigned by the head of facility

•Prepare page and monthly summaries as per instructions

•Compile data from the various registers, other facilities, and the community for HIV services.

•Receive reports from the community and other facilities within the catchment area

•Aggregate key data elements in the registers and provide aggregated data sheet showing performance of each
section/department

•Maintain a tracking chart showing reporting status for each department/section of the health facility

•Support Existing HIV systems e.g. emastercards and POC data and report generation

•Analyze data from the various registers, other facilities, and the community

•Prepare and update graphs and charts for key health indicators and display in strategic places within the
health facility

•Prepare monthly ART Cohort reports and present the reports to facility management team

•Perform monthly and when necessary daily and weekly monitoring and disseminate information to relevant
health facility staff and other stakeholders

•Provide feedback to the sections and departments, health facilities and community where the data originates from

•Undertake training of HSAs and other health workers in data collection and report writing

•Participate in Planning and Monitoring Evaluation & Research activities at facility level through
coordination of monthly facility reviews

•Maintain data base at facility level

•Submit reports to the designated supervisor and Assistant Statistician at District Health Office

Qualifications

Minimum of Malawi School certificate of Education, those with Diploma Certificate in computing will have
an added advantage

 

POSITION : Clinical Officer.

Duty Station : NkhataBay, Chintheche

Overall responsibilities:

Reporting to the project lead, the Clinician will provide clinical consultation, technical support in the
planning and implementation of the HIV/AIDS program within RTCM -supported facilities in collaboration with district health management team (DHMT).

Other Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

•Leadership in HIV T& C provision in the project focus districts

•Oversee the implementation of strategies in the project district for strengthening screening, preventing and
treating HIV Care and Treatment.

•Provide consultations at the district hospital for HIV Care and Treatment and improve the treatment outcomes
of the HIV disease

•Provide technical support for HIV Care and Treatment programming as well as building capacity of the staff at
the facility level both at the hub and spoke sites.

•Support the implementation of HIV Disease program within the district.

•Participate in district supervision and mentorship review meetings in addition to QI collaborative
learning sessions.

•With guidance from project lead, participate in the development of materials related to HIV care and treatment,
including screening tools and algorithms and other necessary tools/job aids.

•Work with M&E/QI team and facility staff to help track progress, identify course correction needs and
implement interventions in a timely manner

•Organizes regular facility level technical updates/review meetings for HIV Disease to discuss performance

•Work with the project manager to track and report on all related activities and processes at the project
supported sites in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the district especially at site to ensure provision of quality services and timely progress is made towards set targets.

•Recommends/Identifies training needs on HIV Disease in the supported facilities and provide on-the-job
training and build skills of health care workers as needed

•Lead in health system strengthening including quality improvement initiatives in order to reach goals.

•Prepares periodic reports on HIV Disease activities as per the donor and RTCM standards.

Qualifications & experience required:

•Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Bachelor of Medicine or its equivalent. Training in general HIV care and treatment

•At least 3 years’ experience in the field of HIV/ AIDS specifically, direct HIV Treatment and Care

•Knowledge of HIV Disease management and guidelines is an added advantage.

Required skills:

Demonstrated clinic competence and experience in pediatrics and adults HIV management. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a multi-cultural team environment. Excellent organizational skills, ability to
work independently, but also coordinate with MOH and RTCM colleagues, assess priorities, and manage a variety of activities with attention to detail. Ability to travel domestically mainly within the district for service delivery and mentoring up to 50% of the time.

 

 

 

Position : HIV Diagnostic Assistant (HDA)

Duty Station : Various (Ntchisi, Mzimba, Nkhatabay, Rumphi & Likoma)

Job Summary :

The HIV Diagnostic Assistant will provide basic HIV information to clients, provide HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B
testing to clients in Antenatal, OPD, Maternity, Post Natal, U5C, In-Patient Wards, STI & TB Clinics as well as in community settings through Index and Social Network Testing strategies. Additionally, the HDA will ensure effective referrals and linkage of clients to prevention, care and treatment services. He/she will document, keep accurate records, and report on all testing-related activities while complying with an approved quality standard for the provision of testing services. Additionally, the HDA will effectively manage testing commodities to facilitate uninterrupted service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pre – test education sessions to clients

• Conduct demonstration and distribution of HIVSTK.

• Provide HIV Testing and other related test including but not limited to HIV, Syphilis, HBsAg while adhering
to WHO’s 5 C’s.

• Collect DBS samples for VL, DNA-PCR

• Actively support linkage to care and treatment services for all HIV+ clients.

• Actively offer and provide referrals to prevention services – PrEP, PEP, Condoms, STI and TB services

• Ensure proper recording and storage of documentation of all client services in standard M&E tools

• Reporting of monthly aggregate service data following MOH standards. Data management (collect, store, and
analyze data).

• Coordinate effectively with all the team members within a facility.

• Offer Index testing services to all newly diagnosed and previously HIV positive clients.

• Elicitation of contacts for active / passive index testing, follow-up, and HIV status ascertainment of contacts,
including HIV testing, active referral for HIV infected contacts for care and treatment services and prevention services for clients who test HIV negative

• Documentation and reporting of stock and utilization data for all commodities at the service delivery point.

• Conduct bi – weekly Quality Controls for all tests performed at the facility

• Conduct bi annual Proficiency Testing of blind samples provided by MoH

 

Minimum qualifications

• Should be a holder of MSCE with credits in Science Subjects and English.

• Certified HIV Testing and Counseling provider by MoH with 12 months hands on experience

· Training in the MOH Scan Form Technology and 3 Test Algorithm “a must”
