The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) is a statutory organization established in 1972 by an Act of Parliament (Cap 51:02) with a mandate to promote standardization of commodities and their manufacture, production, processing or treatment and to provide for the verification and calibration of weighing and measuring instruments; and further to provide for matter incidental to or connected with standardization.
The MBS is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested persons to fill the following vacancies

Job title: Laboratory Assistant (Mechanical)
Grade: BS10
Reporting to: Laboratory Technician
Department: Testing Services Development
Section: General Chemistry/Petrochemicals/Food Chemistry
Number of Posts: One (1)
Job Purpose
To keep laboratory environment clean
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Cleaning laboratory apparatus and equipment;
- Sweeping mopping and dusting the laboratory,
- Washing and pressing laboratory coats,
- Disposing obsolete samples and waste;
- Setting samples for physical and chemical testing;
Required Academic Qualifications and Experience
The applicant should possess:
- Malawi School Certificate of Education plus
- A minimum of two years’ practical experience in a similar job.
