Entries open for Student Video Contest

 Donor Name: Population Connection

The Student Video Contest invites students in grades 6–12 worldwide to create short videos exploring how population growth impacts city planning, fresh water use, or extreme weather.

The contest encourages creative expression and research by challenging participants to produce a short video on one of three topics: City Planning, Fresh Water Use, or Extreme Weather, and to analyze how population dynamics influence these areas.

Awards are presented by topic and school level: for each topic, high school first place winners receive $1,200, second place $600, and two honorable mentions $300 each; middle school first place winners receive $600, second place $300, and two honorable mentions $300 each. Global finalists receive $80 (high school) or $50 (middle school), while regional and state honors award $25 prizes. Prizes are divided among all producers listed on the entry form.

Participants must be students currently in grades 6 to 12 (or the international equivalent) and may enter individually or as part of a group. Videos must be no longer than 60 seconds, in English or with English subtitles, and must begin with a title screen including key information about the producers and the video. All entries must be original, properly cited, and comply with copyright and legal requirements. Students outside the United States must submit a parent/guardian consent form in accordance with GDPR guidelines.
