The SADC Journalism Awards aims to recognize journalists in the region for reporting that informs the public about SADC and advances understanding of regional cooperation and integration through photography, print, television, and radio.

The competition has four award categories: photography, print, television, and radio. The awards recognize excellence, originality, rigor, depth of analysis, and impact in coverage of SADC current affairs and regional cooperation and integration. They also highlight the media’s role in raising public awareness of SADC programmes, policies, initiatives, and achievements.

In each of the four categories, the first-prize winner receives USD 2,500 and the second-prize winner receives USD 1,000. The competition is open to journalists from all SADC Member States. Applicants must complete the entry form by typing in the required information and submit it to the relevant SADC National Media Coordinator.
