The United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples provides travel support to Indigenous individuals and representatives of Indigenous Peoples’ organizations who need financial assistance to participate in UN Indigenous rights mechanisms and strengthen advocacy on behalf of their communities.

The call supports participation in two United Nations processes: the 26th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, taking place in New York from 10 to 21 May 2027, and the 20th session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, taking place in Geneva from 12 to 16 July 2027.

The Fund will provide selected Indigenous representatives with a travel arrangement as well as a stipend to cover travel, accommodation, and related expenses, in accordance with United Nations rules and procedures. Indigenous individuals and representatives of Indigenous Peoples’ organizations may apply if they are actively engaged in promoting and protecting Indigenous Peoples’ rights, can show how their participation will contribute to advocacy for their communities or organizations, and require financial support. Applications from Indigenous persons with disabilities and Indigenous 2SLGBTQ+ persons are particularly encouraged.

Applicants must upload a recent curriculum vitae, a copy of their passport, and a recommendation letter from the Indigenous organization, community, non-governmental or non-profit institution they represent. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered, and applications submitted by email will not be accepted.
