The i3 Open Data Fellows Program, run by the National Bureau of Economic Research’s Innovation Information Initiative, offers fellowships to graduate students and recent graduates to develop and publicly share reusable datasets, tools, code, or metadata that strengthen innovation research.

The NBER Innovation Information Initiative (i3) is a data collaborative for open innovation data and related analytics, tools, and metrics, and this is its fourth cohort of Open Data Fellows.

Fellows contribute new datasets, tools, code, and/or metadata to the innovation research community. Projects may be new or already under development, and are expected to be developed with public dissemination in mind.

The program will award five or more fellowships of $1,500 each.

Applicants must be current graduate students pursuing a master’s or PhD, or have graduated within the past six months. International applicants, including those on US student visas, may face considerations affecting payment processing; the program recommends consulting an international student office about eligibility to receive fellowship stipend payments and NBER travel reimbursement.
