Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project, organized by leading Russian universities, offers tuition-free study and research scholarships to international applicants across bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral tracks in a wide range of subject areas.

Participation takes place entirely online, and the project reports more than 618,000 participants and 16,700 winners.

Participants can compete in subject areas including applied mathematics and artificial intelligence, biology and biotechnology, business and management, medicine and public health, computer and data science, environmental sciences, engineering, economics, education and psychology, politics, and Russian language and culture.

The scholarship covers tuition fees and provides a monthly stipend. The stipend amount varies depending on the university. Students are responsible for travel, accommodation, insurance, and personal costs.

The competition is open to foreign citizens and stateless persons and includes bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral tracks.

Applicants register online and submit a portfolio with a motivation letter, proof of education level, and passport. Bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral applicants complete a timed online task in the second stage; doctoral applicants and postdoctoral candidates who advance take part in interviews, while postdoctoral candidates submit a video presentation. Registration closes on 1 November 2026.
