The Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant Program invites applications to support individual painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have pursued their art for at least 20 years, recognizing serious, fully committed artists regardless of commercial success and considering applicants’ current financial need.

Twenty grants are awarded each year, with applications reviewed by a panel of five arts professionals who have no affiliation with the Foundation. Last year, the Foundation awarded grants of $25,000 each to 20 artists.

Applicants must be individual painters, sculptors, or printmakers who have worked in a mature phase of their art for at least 20 years. Eligibility also depends on current financial need. The Foundation does not fund organizations, educational institutions, students, graphic artists, or people working in crafts.

Photography, film, video, and related forms are ineligible unless the work directly involves, or can be interpreted as, painting or sculpture. Exhibitions, installations, and projects of any kind are not funded. Applicants who have previously received an Individual Support Grant from the Foundation three or more times are ineligible.
