Democracy International is seeking two Malawi-based experts for an anticipated GIZ-funded assignment on social protection communication and advocacy.

The assignment supports the Government of Malawi in building public and political understanding of social protection as a national development priority, working with policymakers, district councils, traditional leaders, the media and communities. Both roles are part-time, based in Malawi, and contingent on award. Fluent English and Chichewa are required.

The Strategic Communication, Advocacy and Behaviour Change Expert will bring seven or more years designing and running communication and advocacy campaigns in development settings, with depth in social and behaviour change communication and public awareness campaigns. The expert will have designed training curricula and delivered capacity-building workshops for government, media and community audiences, and worked in the southern African region.

Communications, Advocacy and Media Specialist will produce communication content across print, radio, digital and community platforms, and understand how to run press briefings, journalist trainings and media campaigns. Three or more years of experience in Malawi is required, ideally working with district-level governance systems, traditional leadership structures and community engagement approaches.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, send a CV in Europass format to info@democracyinternational.com with the title of the position of interest in the subject line by Friday, November 6. The position is contingent on award.
