Malawi Adventist University

Introduction

Malawi Adventist University (MAU) is a private Christian university located in Ntcheu, Malawi. It is affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is part of the global Seventh-day Adventist education system, which is the second largest Christian school system in the world. The university is committed to providing holistic, quality Christian education that equips men and women with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for service to God and mankind.

Historical Background

The establishment of Malawi Adventist University was initiated by the Executive Committee of the Malawi Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The journey began in 1996 when a decision was made to upgrade Lakeview Seminary to a junior college. The initial plan was to offer four-year degree programs, and the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) was identified as a suitable partner for this endeavor.

In 1999, the Malawi Union Mission agreed to implement these four-year degree programs, and in January 2000, the institution opened as Malawi Adventist College. By 2006, the Malawi Union Officers resumed negotiations with UEAB for affiliation purposes. These negotiations culminated in the signing of an affiliation agreement on May 27, 2007, officially transforming Malawi Adventist College into an affiliated university.

Constituent Colleges and Programs

As part of its expansion and development, Malawi Adventist University incorporated Malamulo College of Health Sciences as a constituent college. Malamulo College had long been recognized for its certificate and diploma programs in Nursing and Midwifery, Laboratory Technology, and Clinical Medicine.
