The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) is the central authority responsible for the development, administration, and certification of national examinations in Malawi. Established in April 1987, MANEB was created through the merger of the Malawi Certificate Examinations and Testing Board (MCE&TB) and the Examinations Section of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Prior to this, students in Malawi sat for the Cambridge Overseas School Leaving Certificate Examination.

With the establishment of MANEB, Malawi localized its examination system, ensuring that students could now take examinations that were developed and administered by the country’s own education system. MANEB operates under a revised MCE&TB Act, which gives it the authority to develop, administer, and certify national examinations.
