Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, is an international humanitarian organization that provides medical assistance to populations in distress, victims of natural or man-made disasters, and individuals affected by conflict or epidemics. Founded in 1971, MSF operates in over 70 countries worldwide, and its mission is to provide impartial medical care, regardless of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation.
In Malawi, MSF has been active since the early 1980s, responding to various health crises and providing critical medical care in one of the world’s poorest countries. MSF focuses on supporting Malawi’s health system, particularly in areas where medical services are lacking or overwhelmed by challenges such as HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and reproductive health issues. MSF is recognized for its emergency medical interventions as well as its long-term projects aimed at strengthening healthcare services in Malawi.
