The AI for Human Rights (AI4HR) peer-learning programme from the Global Campus of Human Rights pairs youth-focused human rights organisations with AI-expert NGOs to explore practical ways to apply artificial intelligence to their work through a six-month learning programme.

AI4HR is a five-year research project running from 2024 to 2029, supported by the Global Campus of Human Rights and the Right Livelihood partnership. Its goal is to develop an AI for Human Rights Toolkit designed with and for young people, covering the workplace, higher education classrooms and high school settings.

Over six months, each participating organisation will be paired with an NGO experienced in using AI. The pair will explore practical applications relevant to the organisation’s priorities, such as documenting human rights violations, analysing information or strengthening advocacy, through online activities, webinars and workshops approximately once a month. An AI expert will also visit each organisation once in spring 2027.

All participating organisations will attend a workshop in Venice on 25–26 February 2027 to exchange experiences, build networks and discuss opportunities and challenges in using AI for human rights. Funding is provided for all expenses connected to flights and accommodation in Venice.

Eligible applicants are youth-led human rights organisations or organisations that work mainly with and for young people aged 15 and above. Previous AI experience is not required; applicants should have curiosity and an idea of what they want to learn and where they might apply it. Applications from organisations in Global Majority countries are particularly welcomed.

Applications must be submitted through the Microsoft Form by 4 November 2026. Applicants are asked to provide a short description of their organisation and its work with young people, a website or social media link, their learning or testing goals and why these matter to their work, and the names and CVs of one or two representatives able to commit to the six-month programme in English and attend the expert visit and Venice workshop.

Applications will be assessed against the organisation’s youth focus, the relevance of its human rights work, the clarity of its proposed learning goals, and its capacity and commitment to participate throughout the programme.
