Balaka District Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons of Malawian origin to fill the following vacant posts;
POST TITLE: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT (M/M11)
Duty Station: Balaka District Council
Qualification: Applicants should be Malawians in possession of Certificate in Community Development obtained from a recognized institution and Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE). Be aged between 21 years to 40 years
Salary: Within the range of Government (M/M11) salary scale segments
DUTIES
1.Train community leaders, Adult Literacy Instructors Project Management & other Development committees in the area
2.Control and supervise adult liferacy classes
3.Monitor and supervise self-help projects and other community development
activities
4.Facilitate organization of Adult Literacy classes, presentation of certificate,
formation of adult literacy committees, and establishment of Rural Community Information centres
5.Prepare reports and submit to the District Community Development Officer
6.Assist community leaders on planning, organizing. and implementation of self-
help projects
7.Organize and mobilize communities for community development activities
8.Organize, train and supervise Business/VSL/COMSIP groups or Clusters
9.Plan, organize and implement Home management and Nutrition activities
10.Assist in Appraising the performance of Cluster Supervisors, Adult Literacy
instructors, Community Based Trainers, and other Community volunteers
11.Coordinate and collaborate with other Extension workers in the work area
12.Facilitate formation and training of development structures at community
level e.g. Village Development committees, Village Civil Protection
Committees Village Nutrition Coordinating Committees and Areas
13.Work hand in hand with community volunteers in execution of community
programs
14.Perform any other duty assigned to him/her by responsible officer from time to time
