Join a Mission-Driven Medical Ministry Making a Global Impact

Ministry HR Group is proud to partner with a Christ-centered, international medical ministry in their search for a Director of Spiritual Impact. This organization equips and supports healthcare programs in developing countries, combining quality healthcare with a commitment to advancing its mission and serving communities through both healthcare and spiritual ministry.

This role offers the opportunity to combine theological grounding, spiritual ministry leadership, and cross-cultural relationship building in service of an organization working across diverse cultural, theological, and healthcare contexts. As the custodian of the organization’s spiritual identity, the Director of Spiritual Impact will help ensure its faith foundation is expressed practically and consistently in how staff are supported, how patients are cared for, and how communities are engaged.

What You’ll Do

As the Director of Spiritual Impact, you’ll provide strategic leadership for spiritual ministry across the organization’s current and future country programs. You’ll help shape contextually appropriate approaches to spiritual care, staff spiritual wellbeing, integration of spiritual and clinical care, and faith-based community engagement while working closely with organizational leaders, Country Managers, churches, faith leaders, partners, and community structures.

Key responsibilities include:

Program Design & Implementation

Design and oversee spiritual care programs that complement clinical services, including chaplaincy, pastoral counseling, prayer support, spiritual health assessments, and faith-based community engagement.
Develop contextually appropriate spiritual ministry models that reflect the cultural and theological setting of each country program.
Work with local churches, faith leaders, partners, and community structures to develop approaches to ministry that are trusted, appropriate, and responsive to local contexts.

Staff Spiritual Wellbeing

Support the spiritual formation and wellbeing of staff through devotions, retreats, chaplaincy support, and fostering an organizational culture where faith is lived out at work.
Provide spiritual support in high-stress humanitarian contexts where burnout and moral injury are real risks.

Integration with Clinical Care

Work closely with the Director of Clinical Impact to ensure spiritual and clinical care are meaningfully integrated.
Support spiritual care staff in working alongside clinical teams at the point of service.
Ensure chaplains are trained to recognize and appropriately refer clinical needs.
Equip clinical staff to acknowledge and respect patients’ spiritual needs and to serve as Christ witnesses as they administer care.
Support the organization’s goal of whole-person care by treating body, mind, and spirit.

Community & Church Partnerships

Map and manage relationships with local partners, churches, denominational bodies, and faith leaders across the organization’s operating countries.
Leverage trusted faith and community networks for community mobilization, health education, patient referrals, and program reach.
Build trusted relationships that strengthen the organization’s connection to communities and extend the reach of its programs.

Country Program Support & Cross-Cultural Ministry

Support Country Managers in contextualizing spiritual ministry for their respective settings.
Advise Country Managers on local faith dynamics and appropriate approaches to spiritual ministry.
Support the recruitment and development of in-country spiritual care staff where needed.
Ensure spiritual ministry activities are integrated into country program plans.
Apply both conviction and humility when navigating significant cultural and theological differences across the organization’s current and future operating countries.

Quality, Measurement & Learning

Work with the Head of Quality Improvement to define quality expectations for spiritual care and develop appropriate indicators and assessment tools to evaluate spiritual ministry.
Work with the Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning to identify meaningful spiritual ministry data to collect and how to report it meaningfully to donors and leadership.
Help identify, assess, and communicate meaningful measures of spiritual ministry outcomes for organizational accountability.
Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Impact, Head of Quality Improvement, Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, and Country Managers to strengthen the integration, quality, and effectiveness of spiritual ministry.
