The CRG International PhD Fellowships Programme is currently accepting applications to support doctoral positions for candidates with biomedical sciences degrees and research experience to pursue PhD research in CRG laboratories in Spain.

CRG brings together international research teams across a broad range of disciplines, supported by core technologies, seminars from invited speakers, and courses in complementary and transferable skills integrated into its training programme.

Selected PhD students receive an annual work contract with a competitive salary for 4 years, along with full health and occupational insurance coverage and inclusion in the Spanish Social Security System. Up to 5 fellowships are funded by MICIU/AEI and FSE+; remaining positions are funded by individual laboratories through sources including ERC grants, CRG core funding, and other project-based support.

Applicants must hold a University Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in biomedical sciences within the European Higher Education System, with at least 300 ECTS, or an equivalent degree that permits them to begin a PhD thesis in Spain.

Candidates expecting to obtain the qualifying degree by September 2027 may apply. Applicants must have an excellent academic record, previous research experience, and a strong commitment to scientific research, as well as a high working knowledge of English. The call is open to candidates of any nationality.

Previous interviewees for CRG PhD calls and candidates completing their Master’s degree at CRG are ineligible. Candidates may not have worked at CRG for more than 3 months before the call deadline. Applications must be submitted through the online application system; email applications are not accepted. Applicants must register, provide the information and documents requested in the form, arrange for two reference letters through the system, and select up to 2 CRG laboratories.
