Finance Intern

About the job

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare payment, journal, and deposit vouchers with accurate coding, completeness and authenticity and capture transactions/data.
  • Review and validate supporting documentation before processing payments and ensure all relevant supporting documentation is attached to all payments.
  • Record and reconcile financial transactions following appropriate authorization.
  • Review and process travel advance requests and reconciliation.
  • Process personnel expense reports.
  • Follow up with staff on advance funds liquidation.
  • Maintain proper filing of related financial documents, ensuring that all files are properly indexed with folio numbers and locked safely and ensure easy access and retrieval.
  • Prepare/assist with various periodic financial reports
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial forecasts.
  • Disburse and reconciliation of petty cash.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Submit tax remittances in a timely manner.
  • Prepare schedules for annual audit.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Accountancy
  • At least 1/2 years of experience working as a finance intern/assistant or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of financial management processes, including budgeting, expense tracking, and procurement.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work with accuracy.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and project requirements.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
