VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT FOR FOREST GUARDS
The Ministry of Forestry and Natural Resources is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the vacant post of Forest Guards (Grade O) to be deployed in various Plantations, Reserves and Indigenous Forests
Post : Forest Guards
Grade : O
Location : Various Forest Reserves, Plantations and Indigenous Forests across the country
Age Limit : 25 to 40 years
Reporting to : Forest Assistant
Terms of employment : Permanent terms.
Salary : Within the grade O Malawi Civil Service salary scale segment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.0 Enforce and interpret the Forest Law and policy
1.1 Recommending licensing and permits
1.2 Conducting awareness campaigns
1.3 Jointly with communities carrying out patrols, confiscating and manning check points.
1.4 Accounting for confiscated products
1.5 Apprehending culprits/suspects and hand them over for prosecution
2.0 Protecting Forest Reserves by:
2.1. Supervising maintenance of fire breaks and forest boundaries.
2.2. Participating in fire fighting
2.3. Raising awareness on protection of trees against animals and humans
2.4. Identifying and listing endangered species and ecosystems
2.5. Seeking training in forest resource protection
3.0 Promote and establish Forest Plantations by:
3.1 Raising awareness on investment opportunities in forestry plantations.
3.2. Conducting site visits
3.3. Writing and submitting Reports
3.4. Participating in demarcations of boundary with stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must be holders of Junior Certificate of Education. Those with experience in guard related field are encouraged to apply.
