The Biocodex Microbiota Foundation is inviting applications for its International Research Grant to support projects focused on human gut microbiota and its relationship with health and disease.

The call for proposals supports clinical and fundamental research projects related to human gut microbiota. Each year, the funding opportunity covers a specific theme selected by an International Scientific Committee. Research projects may have a duration of up to three years.

The total funding amount is €200,000, including VAT, regardless of whether the project duration is between one and three years. For projects lasting more than one year, grant payments will be distributed annually according to the provisional budget, subject to the submission of annual interim reports.

Funding is awarded to universities, hospitals, and other research institutions to support equipment, operational activities, and staffing costs associated with the proposed project. The grant is not awarded directly to individuals. As the Foundation is a non-profit organization, institutional overhead costs must not exceed 10% of the total budget.

The grant is open to physicians, PhD holders, and Pharm-D holders working in relevant subject areas such as gastroenterology, pediatrics, microbiology, infectious diseases, internal medicine, and related fields. Applicants from all countries are eligible to apply. A principal investigator who has previously received a Biocodex Microbiota Foundation International Grant is not eligible to apply again. However, principal investigators who have received a National Grant may apply for the International Grant.

Applications must be submitted in English using Arial font size 10 and must comply with the specified word limits. The application package should include a curriculum vitae of no more than two pages highlighting the applicant’s best and most recent publications, a one-page confidential scientific summary, a half-page non-confidential project summary suitable for publication on the Foundation’s website, a three-page project description covering context, objectives, methodology, expected results, participating teams, required authorizations, and justification for funding, along with one page each for bibliography, budget, and project timeline.
