The Cancer Research Institute is inviting applicants for the CRI Technology Impact Award to support early-stage, high-risk technological innovations that could drive breakthroughs in cancer immunotherapy.

This award specifically targets early-stage, pre-development concepts that have not yet been built or tested, encouraging bold, high-risk/high-reward ideas that could lay the foundation for transformative advances in the field. The program seeks to bridge the gap between conceptual technological innovation and real-world clinical application by fostering collaboration between technology developers and clinical cancer immunologists.

Proposals are expected to focus on areas where technological advancement can significantly impact cancer immunotherapy and patient outcomes, such as computational systems biology, advanced profiling technologies, real-time visualization, complex multicellular culture systems, and novel therapeutic platforms. Projects that simply apply existing technologies without substantial new development are not considered responsive.

Seed funding of up to $600,000 over 2-4 years is provided to ignite the creation of disruptive technologies, with institutions eligible for up to 10% additional indirect costs on top of the awarded funds.

Applicants must hold a tenure-track position at a not-for-profit research center or institution, and collaborations between clinical cancer immunologists and technology developers are encouraged. Co-principal investigators are eligible to apply.
