World Cancer Research Fund is inviting applicants for its Regular Grant Programme to support original research exploring how diet, nutrition, body composition, physical activity, and sleep impact cancer prevention or survivorship.

The World Cancer Research Fund Regular Grant Programme is a global initiative designed to advance scientific understanding of how diet, nutrition, body composition, physical activity, and sleep influence cancer prevention and outcomes for survivors. Since its inception, the programme has addressed critical knowledge gaps identified by international expert panels and has supported research that informs public health recommendations and clinical practice worldwide.

For the 2026–27 grant call, applications must focus on at least one of six priority areas: integrative oncology, lifestyle and weight-loss medications, early-onset cancers, early-life exposures, ingested contaminants, or ultra-processed foods. Research proposals are expected to be innovative, hypothesis-driven, and directly relevant to human cancer, with a strong emphasis on scientific quality, feasibility, and potential impact. Both investigator-initiated and pilot/feasibility studies are eligible, provided they align with the programme’s remit and priority areas.

Investigator Initiated Grants offer up to £500,000 for projects lasting up to four years, while Pilot and Feasibility Grants provide up to £60,000 for up to two years. Budgets may include personnel (excluding the lead applicant’s salary except in low- and middle-income countries), research equipment, supplies, travel for dissemination, and open access publication fees. The grant may also cover PhD student stipends and a portion of PhD fees. All costs must be justified and directly related to the research project.

Eligible applicants must hold a research position at their host institution for the duration of the project, and applications are accepted from universities, medical schools, hospitals, research institutes, and independent medical research centres worldwide. The programme encourages international collaborations and particularly welcomes applications from lead applicants based in low- and middle-income countries. Commercial organisations are not eligible.
