The DPoA MTR Journalism Fellowship has launched its applications to support journalists from Least Developed Countries to attend and report on the 2027 Midterm Review of the Doha Programme of Action in Doha, Qatar.

The DPoA MTR Journalism Fellowship is designed to empower journalists from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) by providing them with the opportunity to attend and cover the 2027 Midterm Review of the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA) in Doha, Qatar. The DPoA serves as a global framework to accelerate sustainable development and support the sustainable graduation of LDCs, and the Midterm Review is a pivotal moment to assess progress, identify gaps, and strengthen international partnerships for the remainder of the decade.

Fellows are encouraged to engage with one or more of the six DPoA priority areas in their reporting: investing in people; leveraging science, technology and innovation; supporting structural transformation; enhancing international trade and regional integration; addressing climate change, environmental degradation and resilience; and mobilizing international solidarity and partnerships. Reporting proposals should demonstrate a clear connection to these themes and their relevance to LDC audiences.

Selected Fellows will receive round-trip economy-class travel to Doha, a daily subsistence allowance for accommodation and meals in accordance with United Nations rules, participation in pre-conference orientation activities, and access to Fellowship briefings and networking opportunities.

Applicants must be aged 18 or older, nationals of one of the 44 eligible LDCs, and have at least two years of professional journalism experience with work regularly published or broadcast by a recognized media outlet. Fellows are expected to participate in all required activities during the Midterm Review and produce at least three substantive journalism outputs—one before, one during, and one after the event—focused on DPoA implementation and outcomes. All outputs must be published and shared with the Fellowship organizers by 30 April 2027.
