The CRI Immuno-Informatics Postdoctoral Fellowship supports early-career scientists worldwide to develop dual expertise in immunology and data science for advancing cancer immunotherapy.

The CRI Immuno-Informatics Postdoctoral Fellowship was established to cultivate a new generation of scientists at the intersection of immunology and data science, recognizing the growing importance of computational approaches in advancing cancer immunotherapy. By supporting researchers who bridge biological and quantitative sciences, the program aims to accelerate the discovery and development of novel immune-based therapies for cancer.

The fellowship is open to computational biologists seeking to deepen their understanding of immunology, cancer immunologists aiming to gain expertise in computational biology, data science, or genomics, and researchers from diverse PhD backgrounds pursuing training at the interface of cancer immunology and computational biology. Eligible projects must be hypothesis-driven in basic or translational cancer immunology, demonstrate potential to advance understanding of the immune system’s role in cancer, leverage innovative technologies or computational methods, and clearly articulate how the work addresses critical gaps in cancer immunology.

Fellowships provide three years of support, including a stipend of $74,000, $76,000, and $78,000 in years 1-3, plus a $5,000 annual institutional allowance for research supplies, conference travel, health insurance, or childcare. Dedicated support is also provided for fellows to attend the CRI Bioinformatics Bootcamp. Deductions for administrative overhead are not allowed from either the stipend or the institutional allowance.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree by the date of award activation and conduct their research under a sponsor with a formal appointment as an assistant professor or higher at a non-profit institution. There are no citizenship restrictions, and the fellowship can be performed in the United States or abroad. Applicants should have less than five years of mentored research experience at the time of award activation (excluding M.D. residency), and only one fellow per sponsor may apply per round. Projects must be directly related to immunology or cancer immunology and relevant to solving the cancer problem.

The application deadline is September 1, 2026, with a subsequent deadline on March 1, 2027. Applications must be submitted online with all required supporting materials, including research proposals, CVs, letters of recommendation, and institutional certifications. Only PDF documents are accepted, and incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
