Apply now for Global Canvas Children’s Wildlife Art Competition

David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation is inviting applicants aged 4–16 to submit artwork for the Global Canvas 2027 international children’s wildlife art competition, celebrating the theme of Ecosystem Engineers.

Launched by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, Global Canvas is a renowned annual art competition designed to inspire children and young people worldwide to explore wildlife and conservation themes through creative expression. Each year, the competition selects a new theme to challenge participants to think deeply about the natural world and their role in protecting it.

The 2027 theme, “Ecosystem Engineers,” invites young artists to celebrate species that build and shape habitats, highlighting their vital role in maintaining healthy, balanced ecosystems. The competition encourages the use of any art medium, with a special emphasis on recycled and found materials to promote environmental awareness.

Winners in each age category receive art supply vouchers and certificates, and their work is showcased online, with winners announced at a dedicated awards ceremony. Prizes are subject to geographical availability and may be fulfilled by the Foundation or its partners, with alternatives provided where delivery is not possible. Prizes have no cash value and are not redeemable for cash.

Children and young people aged 4–16, either as individuals or in groups (minimum two participants for groups), are eligible to enter. Entries must be original artwork interpreting the annual theme, and must be submitted as photographs via the online entry form by a responsible adult. No entry fee is required, and entries are accepted from anywhere in the world.
