Press Agriculture Limited (PAL)
Press Agriculture Limited (PAL) is one of the largest agricultural organizations in Malawi, with over 15,000 hectares of land. Based in Kasungu, PAL operates across multiple estates located in Kasungu, Mchinji, Lilongwe, and parts of Mzimba. PAL is known for producing large quantities of staple and commercial crops, including maize, soybeans, paprika, groundnuts, and more. With a rich history dating back to its founding in 1984, PAL continues to play a critical role in Malawi’s agricultural sector.
Press Agriculture Limited was established as the agricultural arm of Press Corporation by Malawi’s first president, Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda, in the early 1970s. Originally, PAL’s primary objective was to grow tobacco and other crops such as coffee to contribute to Malawi’s economy. Since then, the company has diversified its crop portfolio, expanding into commercial maize, soybeans, paprika, groundnuts, and more.
With a legacy rooted in agriculture, PAL has maintained its focus on large-scale farming and continues to contribute significantly to Malawi’s agricultural industry. The company’s head office is located at Kulima House along the M1 road in Kasungu.
