Reference URL:https://www.abta.org/discovery-grants/

The ABTA Discovery Grant Program is designed to support faculty investigators pursuing high-risk, high-impact projects that could change diagnostic or treatment paradigms and advance understanding and care for adult and pediatric brain tumors.

The funding mechanism is intended to support early scientific studies that can help investigators secure additional or future funding for their projects. The grants provide up to $50,000 in support over a one-year period.

Projects may focus on any brain tumor type, whether benign or malignant and primary or metastatic, and may address pediatric, adolescent and young adult, adult, or all patient populations. Research areas include biomarkers, brain tumor biology, clinical research, diagnosis, drug delivery, etiology, genetics, imaging, molecular or genetic epidemiology, novel therapeutics, and risk assessment.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree, including an MD, PhD, DrPH, DO, or equivalent, and hold a full-time faculty position. They cannot have held a full-time faculty appointment before September 1, 2019, although a documented leave of absence may be excluded from the eligibility window. Applicants are not required to be U.S. citizens or residents. Each grant is awarded to a single principal investigator and, if applicable, a mentor; co-mentors and co-principal investigators are not allowed.
