The Edith Saurer Fund is offering applications to support PhD holders and researchers for ongoing historical projects addressing social inequality in relation to gender, class and culture with a focus on Europe.

Projects are especially encouraged to focus on Europe from the early modern period to the 20th century, utilizing comparative and transnational approaches. The core objective of the research should be to address social inequality from a historical perspective, with specific attention to gender, class, and culture.

Research grants are awarded in amounts ranging from €5,000 to €20,000 per project, which converts to approximately $5,400 to $21,600 USD. Projects receiving funding are generally expected to be completed within a two-year timeframe.

These grants are targeted at PhD holders, postdocs, and researchers primarily within the humanities, with a strong emphasis on history and related interdisciplinary fields. Eligible projects must be active and delve into social inequality from a historical viewpoint, concentrating on the themes of gender, class, and culture. Research proposals that incorporate comparative and transnational methodologies are highly valued.
