A. ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT
1. Lecturers in Paediatrics & Child Health, Obstratrics & Gynacology, and Surgery (Grade I)
-
Reporting to: Head of Clinical Medicine Department
-
BSc in Paediatrics and Child Health, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Surgery, Clinical Medicine, MBBS or any other related qualification obtained from a recognised and accredited training institution.
-
Must be registered and have renewed the Licence with the Medical Council of Malawi. A higher qualification is an added advantage.
-
A minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience at a tertiary health facility or an academic institution. Ability to work with minimum supervision and with good communication skills.
Duties
-
Assess student training needs
-
Prepare for classroom instruction
-
Teach the specified curriculum in the classroom
-
Supervise student clinical practice in liaison with clinical staff and clinical teacher
-
Monitor and evaluate students’ progress in the classroom and clinical practice
-
Provide individual and group tutorial work
-
Participate in Curriculum Review
2. LECTURER in PHYSICS/CHEMISTRY (Grade I)
Qualifications
-
Bachelor Degree in Chemistry/Physics
-
Minimum of three years of clinical and teaching experience
-
Good communication skills.
Duties
-
Assess student training needs
-
Prepare for classroom instruction

Teach the specified curriculum in the classroom

Supervise students in chemistry practice
-
Provide individual and group tutorial work
-
Participate in Curriculum Review
B. CORPORATE DEPARTMENT
1. SECRETARY (Grade K)
Qualification
-
Malawi School Certificate of Education (M.S.C.E.), with strong credit in English
-
Diploma in Secretarial Studies or is equivalent
-
Must have computer skills /computer literate
-
Fluent in English
Duties
-
Welcoming and directing visitors
-
Receiving parcels and managing incoming and outgoing mail
-
Providing information regarding the Institute to clients on inquiry.
-
Typing different kinds of documents
-
Maintaining the filing system for the students
-
Recording of registration and index numbers of new intake
-
Sending and downloading electronic mail
-
Replying to various correspondence as directed
-
any other duties assigned from time to time
2. Maintenance Supervisor (Grade K)
Qualification
-
Minimum Diploma in construction works plus City and Guilds/ Trade Test Grade 1 with five (5) years’ experience at supervisory level. Those with Bachelors degree will have an added advantage
Key Duties and Responsibilities
-
Develop, review and monitor the implementation of maintenance policies, schedules, procedures and budget
-
Inspect facilities to determine problems requiring attention.
-
Maintain inventory of materials and equipment
-
Enforce adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
-
Carry out new construction works
-
Determine quantities and costs of maintenance materials and labour
-
Prepare reports
REMUNERATION
St Johns Institute for Health will provide remuneration packages as prescribed by CHAM and the Government. However, the Board of Governors may solicit motivational packages and offer the most competitive conditions for its employees.
